From September 2027, we look forward to welcoming girls and boys into the Reception year at WCPS, applying to join the school through the 2025-26 admissions cycle.
We are taking this step so that we can open our doors to any child who will flourish here. It is our belief that, as a co-educational community, we will enrich the educational experience of all our pupils and the preparation we offer them – when the time comes – for their lives in the world beyond school.
Girls have long played an integral role within the Corporation of King’s, and it has been a longstanding ambition of the governors to extend co-education throughout the Corporation. This long-term aspiration has been given fresh impetus by the Corporation’s recent acquisition of a new site on The Downs, located just a few minutes’ walk from the school, where it is planned that a new, world-class junior school will be built.
At WCPS, we are thrilled to make this important move to co-education. A WCPS education fosters curiosity and independence, and nurtures respectful, caring individuals, and we want to welcome girls as well as boys to our warm, supportive and stimulating school environment.
As we look forward to welcoming girls as well as boys throughout the school over the coming years, we remain focused on offering an outstanding education for all our pupils. You can read more about our school and about the outstanding education we offer our pupils on our website, including the report from our recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection in March 2025 which highlighted as a significant strength the school's exceptional support for pupil wellbeing, achieved through a well-integrated curriculum, strong pastoral care, and a focus on fostering self-awareness and resilience.
Please read our coeducation at WCPS brochure above, to learn more about the context and practical implications of this important decision for the WCPS community.
