It is a pleasure to welcome you to Wimbledon Common Preparatory School’s (WCPS) website. I hope it gives you a glimpse into the vibrant and supportive community that makes our school so special.
Affectionately known as "Squirrels," WCPS is a lively and nurturing Pre-Prep school for children aged 4 to 7. We are proud to operate a three-form entry, guiding our pupils toward a range of prestigious Prep schools across London, including King’s College Wimbledon. As part of the Corporation of King’s College School, we benefit from strong their governance and access to shared facilities that greatly enhance our educational offerings.
At WCPS, we take great pride in our holistic approach to education. While we focus on preparing students for the 7+ entrance process, our priority is always to maintain a child-centred ethos. Our exceptional pastoral care ensures that every child’s well-being is at the heart of everything we do. We are more than a school—we are a community where strong partnerships with parents help shape the best possible path for each child.

Our pupils are curious, eager to explore, and ready to engage with the world around them. With a dynamic mix of learning through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences, we make sure our pupils are always inspired and excited. Our corridors and outdoor play areas are filled with inquisitive children who take full advantage of our wonderful facilities and wide range of extra-curricular activities.
As Headteacher, I was deeply honoured when WCPS received recognition for having a significant strength in our pastoral care and pupil well-being during our recent ISI inspection. This recognition was not based on what we told the inspectors, but on what our children and parents shared with them. To have been acknowledged for our outstanding pastoral care, alongside the high academic achievements of our pupils, reflects the very essence of what we strive to achieve with every child and family.
I am delighted to share that WPCS is spearheading the Corporation of King’s College School’s historical move to co-education as we prepare to welcome both boys and girls into our Reception 2027 September cohort. This move will further prepare our pupils for the Corporation’s Beyond 25 vision (embed link here), as we are at the very start of their educational journey.
